The Evolution of the Bathroom – An Introduction

We’ve already looked at what the four generational groups, identified by Sphere Trending in their report commissioned by Nielsen, are looking for from their kitchens.  Now we are taking a closer look at what the report suggests that consumers of different ages are likely to want from their bathrooms. And, once again. where generational needs overlap – the evolution of a bathroom.

The four groups are Millenials ( Gen Now), GenXers, Boomers (Zoomers) and Prime Timers. And for them all, what used to be a simple yet functional space for cleaning and bathing, someone to get everyone in and out of quickly efficiently, has become, according to Sphere Trending, all about ‘wellness’, ”a space to spend time in, for relaxation, a place to connect, solutions for keeping fit, a de-stressing zone”

I’m going to go have a long soak in the tub while I think about that.  We will be posting about what Sphere believe each of the groups wants from their bathrooms. Your comments are, of course, more than welcome, and you can get involved in the debate on Twitter @KBIS2013 .
